As the ranks of Delta Search & Rescue are open to any competent person who can provide a speciality service, we have some members who own four wheel drive vehicles and some who own 2x4's. It is therefore obvious that due to differing space availability and application, that the content of Rescue Kits will vary.

There are FIVE basic types of KITS. These are as follows:-

bulletThe Basic First Aid Kit / Prescription Kit - This is a small but versatile First Aid kit containing the basics for the individual, including all prescription medicine for that individual.
bulletThe Basic Vehicle Recovery & Spares Kit - This kit covers the basics of recovery and roadside maintenance of your vehicle.
bulletThe Basic Navigation & Signal Kit - This kit provides you with the basic tools to navigate and find your way when tasked during an operation. The signal kit is also useful should you become lost, incapacitated, or in imminent danger.
bulletThe Speciality Rescue Kits - These are kits that should be carried by members who provide a qualified speciality rescue service.
bulletThe Canteen Box - These items should be able to provide sustenance for a period of one to three nights.

The first three "BASIC RESCUE KITS" are deemed essential equipment to be carried AT ALL TIMES by Intermediate and Advanced  Members in their vehicles. It will be up to the Basic member to gradually accumulate these items.

The intention is to make sure that every member becomes self sufficient and does not become a liability to the SAR operation in any way. The equipment listed also provides you with the basic tools to carry out your assignment effectively.

The kits have been divided up for purpose of packing and storage, facilitating the easy finding of items. If kits are packed into "ammo" boxes, try to partition off the box so that each item has it's place. This will make replacement of items, whether used or lost, easier.

In addition, the intention is to cut down on your response time when responding to a call-out. Knowing that you have all the equipment with you in your vehicle, means that you can concentrate on the operation at hand without worrying about what you might have left behind!
